Perhaps like many of you I voted in the name-a-whale competition on the Greenpeace website (somebody pinged me a link). By an overwhelming majority the quirky name "Mister Splashy Pants" won the competition and surely everyone who voted for the name is having a little smirk & chuckle. What's most interesting for me is not that the competition was had but how the campaign has now turned a corner to become save Mr. Splashy Pants ($ & signatures). How often are we asked to just give without first being involved & brought in? This light-hearted naming competition brought us in and hooked us....& now they can start reeling. (Too bad I don't recall any email follow-up options like "Get an email to see if your name wins...".)
