The Times (registration required) has an interesting article from Monday about how sites are optimizing their shopping carts and search results to not lose buyers by allowing users to interact on one page without reloading and travelling through multiple pages. One site they reviewed is kayak.com which has crafted an easy-to-use travel booking app.
